On Sunday, February 8th, we’re getting hands-on with a Beading Workshop: threading, sorting, choosing colours, and making small things at your own pace. This session takes place during Black History Month and is part of Activate’s wider commitment to centring BIPOC creativity, care, and presence — while remaining open and welcoming to all queer teens. Beading is simple, calming, and very forgiving. You can make jewelry, charms, or just experiment with beads and elastics however you like. There’s no “right way” to do it—you can follow an idea, copy a pattern, or just sit and let your hands do their thing. It’s about making something tactile and spending time together, not about perfection. This session is brought to you by Ona (she/her) and Toni (she/her). Ona is a talented writer and translator who’s been passionate about fibre arts for over a decade. From embroidery to knitting, her hands are magic and her tips are gold. Toni feels at home in Vienna’s art and culture spaces. Alongside her studies in social anthropology, she designs gatherings that are cozy, different, and intentionally safe for her peers and friends. Expect lots of beads, time to chill, and a safer space to hang out and make something together. Just come as you are. Activate is a fun, safer space for queer teens to hang out, make stuff, and connect. Sessions run in English and/or German, depending on what participants prefer. All supervisors speak additional languages. Villa Vida Café is fully wheelchair accessible, including an accessible toilet. No prior experience needed. Free. Friends welcome. 💫
